- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum 12 months recent tertiary neonatal experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Australia or New Zealand at the time of commencement for the position.
- Minimum five years post graduate experience
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and educate junior medical staff and medical students in neonatal/ perinatal medicine
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of evidence based neonatal medicine and excellent clinical judgement concerning unwell neonatal patients.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all relevant neonatal procedures including the ability to intubate, insert IA lines and umbilical central lines and manage neonatal ventilation.
- Demonstrated ability to prevent and negotiate conflict in a critical care environment.
- Demonstrated excellent and thorough written and oral communication skills, including clinical handover, medical records and clinical database entry and ability to discuss serious newborn illness with families
