The Paediatric General Surgery Provisional Fellow position is available at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, for the 2026 Clinical Year, from 02 February 2026 to 31 January 2027.
The position provides Surgical Trainees an opportunity to further their training, developing skills important for a consultant role in the spheres of clinical care, education and training as well as research with support from the team consultants and other health care professionals. The Provisional Fellow role is a leadership role, both within the department for other junior medical staff and medical students as well as members of the multidisciplinary team, but also across the broader hospital community.

Selection Criteria:

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.

RACS Fellowship or registered as an Advanced Trainee in Paediatric Surgery or recognised international Paediatric Surgery specialist qualification.

Paediatric surgery experience in a tertiary centre.

Excellent communication skills with leadership and team building skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.

Demonstrated aptitude for clinical and academic paediatric surgical and related teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical staff and other clinical staff in theatres, clinics and at formal teaching sessions.

Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to supervise Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.

Demonstrated interest, motivation and capability in research.

Emergency Management of Severe Trauma Course (EMST / APLS / ATLS or equivalent) or registered to undertake one before starting in position.
