This is an exciting opportunity to lead a range of key cancer prevention programs and services in tobacco and vaping control, skin cancer prevention and healthy living including leadership of a range of large statewide projects. There is a real opportunity to help shape the focus of cancer prevention into the future.

This is a fast-paced dynamic role and not for the faint hearted. You will need juggle a strategic focus, whilst managing day to day priorities and delivering key outcomes. You will need to be able to communicate and negotiate proactively with key stakeholders and partners, including state and national colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

The role involves strategic engagement and communication activities and working with a range of state and national stakeholders including clinicians, service providers, policy makers, consumers and community members. Internal engagement and communication with Institute is also critical to ensure successful implementation of key projects.

You will be part of the Cancer Screening and Prevention Divisions Senior Leadership team and will also contribute to organisation wide initiatives and projects.

You will have advanced knowledge and experience of public health programs and translating population data into actionable insights. You will have considerable experience leading a range of health professional disciplines, teams and portfolios.

You will have demonstrated experience in change and project management, and experience in using codesign methodology with highly developed communication and engagement skills. You will have an advanced ability to influence and negotiate change. Experience in a health setting is essential.

Essential requirements

• Extensive experience in planning, leading and delivering public health services/programs including health promotion, population health and or clinical services.
• Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant health discipline and demonstrated relevant understanding of public health and behavior change, along with knowledge of the federal and state health systems. 
• Proven achievement in the development and successful implementation of strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, strategically improve performance and manage multiple projects.
• Demonstrable leadership experience of multidisciplinary healthcare teams delivering statewide programs and projects requiring high level of engagement and relationship management 
• Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with experience engaging and successfully communicating with key stakeholders.

If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel.

Pre-screening questions

1. Please provide an example of when you were responsible for leading and delivering a large-scale health services program with multiple stakeholders and were required to plan and execute a new project. How did you approach it, and what were lessons learnt?
2. Please outline your experience in leadership and change management across a multiple and expansive range of stakeholders. How did you assess the different impacts for each stakeholder group and then address the diverse stakeholder needs?
