What you’ll be doing
This role is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the NSW Cervical Screening Program, including leading and facilitating statewide initiatives to increase participation in cervical screening across NSW and contribute to Australia being the first country in the world to eliminate cervical cancer. The role will lead key stakeholder engagement and deliver programs of work to improve participation, ensure equity of access and outcomes for all populations in the cervical screening program and to contribute to reducing the incidence and mortality from cervical cancer.
You will need to have broad program and project management experience, delivery of strategic engagement and communication activities and experience working with a range of state and national stakeholders including clinicians, health service providers, policy makers, consumers and community members.
The role is also responsible for enhancing long-term strategic partnerships with the Commonwealth Cervical Screening Program and National Cancer Screening Register for all screening related policy, and operational, data and information related activity.
You will have demonstrated experience in team leadership and change management, with highly developed communication and engagement skills. You will have an advanced ability to influence and negotiate change. Experience in a health setting is essential.

Essential requirements
- Extensive experience in planning, leading and delivering public health services/programs including health promotion, population health and or clinical services.
- Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a health discipline and demonstrated relevant understanding of public health and behavior change, along with knowledge of the federal and state health systems.
- Proven achievement in the development and successful implementation of strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, strategically improve performance and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrable leadership experience of multidisciplinary healthcare teams delivering statewide programs and projects requiring high level of engagement and relationship management
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with experience engaging and successfully communicating with key stakeholders.
If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel.
Pre-screening questions
- Please provide an example of when you were responsible for leading and delivering a large-scale health services program with multiple stakeholders and were required to plan and execute a new project. How did you approach it, and what were lessons learnt?
- Please outline your experience in leadership and change management across a multiple and expansive range of stakeholders. How did you assess the different impacts for each stakeholder group and then address the diverse stakeholder needs?
