About this role
We are looking for a high performing Policy Officer to join the Enterprise Team, Office for Health and Medical Research.
The Enterprise Team manages programs and policies that support the NSW health and medical technology sector to develop and commercialise research to create healthier communities and deliver better patient care.
The Policy Officer is responsible for program management for the NSW Medical Devices Fund (a medical technology commercialisation grant program) and the NSW Health Commercialisation Training Program (a medical technology commercialisation education program). This is a great opportunity to use and further develop your experience in project management and grant governance, and to build and manage collaborative stakeholder relationships with the health and medical research sector.
Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from $110,266 - $122,058 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate and implement a range of health research policy and program initiatives day-to-day, including the NSW Medical Devices Fund and NSW Health Commercialisation Training Program
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support program delivery, through communication, negotiation, and issue management
- Provide secretariat support for key governance groups, including the NSW Medical Devices Fund Expert Panel and Subgroup
- Coordinate working groups and consultations to facilitate information exchange and support the completion of project plans
- Prepare and maintain project-related documentation, ensuring all information is sourced and collated for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation purposes
- Plan for and deliver program procurement processes
- Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs to support informed decision-making and planning.
You may also have opportunities to support complementary projects across the team and Office for Health and Medical Research.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven experience in project and/or policy management
- Good communication skills with the ability to tailor communications on complex issues to a variety of audiences
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, handling highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small dynamic team environment and manage your own workload
- Ability to quickly understand new tasks or subject matter and respond effectively to shifting workloads and time-critical priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and manage risks and issues
- Understanding or experience of how government works, including policy, program and contract management, and grant processes
- Knowledge of the health and medical research and translation system is an advantage but not essential.
