Peer Support Worker - Farm Gate – Bega
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
- Lived experience in accessing Mental Health support for self or others and an ability to reflect on experience of recovery, as well as completion of the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent) or willingness to complete same within 12 months of commencement.
- Demonstrated experience of living and/or working in rural and remote communities and awareness of the impact that natural disasters (including drought) have on individuals, family relationships and communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of the agricultural community and experience in helping others to navigate access to supports for prolonged stress.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer support interventions.
- Experience in working collaboratively within a team and of building and maintaining effective relationships.
- Demonstrated effective negotiation, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015
All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
