What you'll be doing
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services practicing at an advanced level within neonatology and paediatric caseloads for feeding and swallowing difficulties in accordance with best practice principles (at a performance level commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience).
 
As a senior clinician the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise, independent professional judgement and pronounced problem solving to manage cases where principles, procedures, techniques and methods require expansion, adaption, or modification.
 
This position will also contribute to senior departmental and team duties including clinical supervision, leading of quality improvement activities, participation in service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications:  Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
Registration:  Eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia. 

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in the management of medically complex neonates with feeding and swallowing disorders.
  2. Demonstrated and recent experience in managing complex paediatric developmental feeding and swallowing disorders.
  3. Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary team with minimal direct clinical supervision, displaying excellent time management and organisational skills.
  4. Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective internal and external partnerships
  6. Actively practices the principles of Evidence Based Practice and engages in recent professional development for relevant clinical areas.
  7. Current Driver's License
