About the role

The full-time role of the Patient Transport Officer works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that patients are transported in a safe and timely manner to and from required venues; that items are collected and delivered as required; general administrative duties.


Essence of the role

  • Safe and timely transport of patients to and from required venues
  • Collection and delivery of patient related items as required
  • Performing administrative duties including computer administration, receiving and sending emails, electronic filing and general tasks as required by the Fleet & Transport Manager
  • General maintenance of Patient Transport vehicles, Hospital Pool Motor vehicles and associated items


Essential/Mandatory Criteria

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • A current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C - Car Licence) and safe driving record. Prepared to undertake the Driver Assessment Test if required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Health and/or Aged Care Sectors, with experience in transporting frail, aged and / or vulnerable people desirable but not essential
  • Presents professionally and takes pride in personal appearance
  • Senior First Aid Certificate desirable
  • Confident at using computers, including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, using relevant software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Empathy and patience
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Customer service focus.
