Role Title: Paralegal (REQ586512)

About this role        
                                
The Paralegal is responsible for providing paralegal and administrative services to support the work of the Health Professional Councils Authority’s legal team in ensuring compliance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW).


Crown Clerk 5/6, salary from $ 99,938 - $ 110,271 plus super and leave loading.

What you'll be doing

Role will be allocated responsibility for:
 
•    Provide high quality paralegal, clerical and administrative services to support an effective legal function 
•    Deliver a range of paralegal functions including preparation of correspondence, template documents and straightforward court and tribunal documents for review by legal officers, and undertake legal research 
•    Deliver a wide range of clerical support functions including records management, document compilation and distribution, file preparation for meetings, compilation of briefs to counsel and document bundles for hearings, workflow tasks and data entry with a high level of accuracy and reliability 
•    Liaise with and communicate information to practitioners and other stakeholders including counsel, court and tribunal staff, indemnity insurers and legal representatives.
•    Collect and compile information, and prepare and record documentation and correspondence in line with organisational records and information management policies, including accurately entering data into the case management system to support information flow and to inform decision making 
•    Conduct short and straightforward attendances in courts and tribunals including for returns of subpoenas. 


About you 

•    Undertaking legal qualifications and / or experience working in a legal office with demonstrated understanding of relevant legal processes and familiarity with legal terminology 
•    Awareness of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW), and other relevant legislation

Working at Health Professional Councils Authority

The Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA) is an executive agency of the NSW Ministry of Health.  We play an important role in protecting the health and safety of the public by supporting the 15 NSW Health Professional Councils in managing complaints about NSW health practitioners.
The position is based at two locations.  The first is the HPCA Pitt Street offices, located only a short walking distance from Central Station and Belmore Park. There are a number of facilities located within the building, including a food court, a rooftop garden, yoga and Pilates sessions, end of trip amenities, including bike storage. The second location is the HPCA Gladesville offices, located in the grounds of the Old Gladesville Hospital.  Free parking is available, as is access to nearby bus routes.
