We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified Registered Nurses who are looking for an exciting career opportunity within Paediatric Oncology as a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) grade 1 at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
This is a permanent full time position.
The Paediatric Oncology CNC will be allocated to the Oncology Team C at CHW supported by the wider senior oncology nursing, medical and allied teams.
The team CNC provides complex care for patients and families referred for malignant diseases including diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, survivorship, and end of life.
The Paediatric Oncology CNC will provide expert clinical advice to patients, carers and health care professionals relating to children with both haematological and solid tumour malignancies. The CNC will also be required to develop a subspeciality interest in non-central nervous system solid tumour in the coming years. The CNC is a pivotal position within the team providing leadership, care coordination, education and developing and evaluating clinical management plans based on evidence and research.
Oncology experience is highly desirable
What you'll be doing
The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.
In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience.
- Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
- Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice
- Demonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skills
- Demonstrated participation in the development of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning
- Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, competency in the use of contemporary information systems
- Ability to apply clinical expertise in consultancy with children and families, with the ability to work independently
