About Your New Role:
Westmead Hospital’s Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) team is seeking a dedicated Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality clinical services to older adults experiencing acute mental health conditions.
In this role, the OT plays a crucial part in timely and safe discharge planning, assessing functional capacity in the context of mental health and age-related challenges, and facilitating community reintegration. You will also design and implement both individual and group therapeutic activities that promote independence, recovery, and wellbeing.

Where you'll be working
•Based at Westmead Hospital’s Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) acute inpatient unit, you will deliver focused occupational therapy interventions to consumers during their acute admission.
• You will play a lead role in functional assessments, identifying care needs and support systems required upon discharge.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, community partners, and families to ensure coordinated, patient-centred discharge planning.
• Facilitate individual and group programs aimed at enhancing occupational engagement, independence, and quality of life.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Occupational Therapy
Registration: Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and AHPRA
Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services for clients with mental health and ageing needs, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in assessment, planning and evaluating interventions, with the ability to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters with minimal direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision to students and support other staff.
- Demonstrated, effective organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with consumers, teams and agencies, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and demonstrated knowledge and experience with quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
