About the Role
There are multiple opportunities within Hunter New England to expand your skillset and gain valuable and unique experiences in a rural setting. This is a chance to fast-track your career due to ongoing exposure to different clinical areas and presentations. You would have the flexibility and independence to manage your own caseload as well as contribute positively to the wider multidisciplinary team. You would be actively supported with clinical supervision arrangements and a strong, well developed Northern OT Network. The Northern OT network is also supported by a range of clinical working groups and continuing professional development activities.

Dependent upon the clinical caseload and location, these positions have the responsibility to actively case manage a range of clinical patient presentations. Unique opportunities are available to employ innovative strategies to support patient care such as telehealth, outreach services, peer support/shadowing and tertiary specialist clinic support.

  • Inverell
  • Moree
  • Narrabri – up to full-time
  • Tamworth – up to full-time
  • Outreach to other locations including: Barraba, Bingara, Boggabri, Emmaville, Manilla, Tingha, Warialda, Werris Creek


About Us

  • HNE is seeking to employ suitably skilled and experienced Occupational Therapists,
  • This is a great opportunity to try rural practice, working across a range of generalist and specialised clinical caseloads
  • Occupational Therapists employed at the Tamworth Hospital OT department will be directly line managed by a senior Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy positions at New England Community & Aged Care Service (NECACS) are also currently line managed by a senior Occupational Therapist. All other positions are professionally supported by the Northern Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy.

Requirements

  • Our successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Will be highly motivated to provide evidence based, excellent Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention that seeks to support best practice patient outcomes.
  • Will possess high level communication skills, effective time management skills, the ability to work within a range of multidisciplinary teams, develop suitable partnerships and work independently with minimal supervision (dependent upon the position).

  • The start date for this position is flexible 
    An eligibility list will be created for this position, may be considered for other similar positions
  • These are Occupational Therapist Level 3 positions. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.
