Opportunity exists for a permanent full time Nutrition Supervisor position at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). Additionally, a casual pool to assist with leave relief is also being established as a component of this recruitment. Where you'll be working
The Nutrition Supervisor position is required to be part of the 7-day service which operates from 0600-1830 hours daily (inclusive of weekends and public holidays) at RNSH. Nutrition Supervisors are rostered within a 7-day rotating roster. This position will be required to work at least 2 weekend shifts per fortnight. There are 2 Nutrition Supervisors rostered daily, with early shift from 0600-1430 hours or late shift 1000-1830 hours. Additionally a day shift of 0800-1630 may also be rostered when staffing allows. The Nutrition Supervisor position is located within the Diet Aide Office, and works collaboratively with all Food Service and Nutrition Services staff.
What you'll be doing
The Nutrition Supervisor has a key role in the safe provision of therapeutic meals/special diets. The role is responsible for checking of special meal items, identifying patients on restrictive diets, determining meal item suitability when menu item substitution is required, and supporting the interface between Clinical Dietetics and Food Services. The Nutrition Supervisor also performs some Dietitian Assistant functions, inclusive of basic patient care under the direction and supervision of a Dietitian.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Diet Supervisors Certificate, Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated knowledge of diet therapy in the clinical setting.
- Understanding of basic clinical nutrition practices, specialised nutrition products and food service systems.
