About the role 

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) Staffing and Nursing Support is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of nursing and midwifery staffing and to deliver, in collaboration with Nursing Unit Managers and operational managers, optimal utilisation of the nursing and midwifery workforce within The Tweed Hospital. Undertaking the efficient management of the Permanent and Casual nursing pool in collaboration with department Nursing Unit Managers, including the Transit Lounge in line with the agreed budget nursing profile. This includes recruitment and retention of staff. Monitoring and reporting indicators and performance outcomes relating to nurse and midwifery staffing arrangements. Ensure accurate recording of overtime, sick leave and requests for patient specials are maintained. Coordinating all aspects of the management of the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Administration Team, including Administration Officers, the health care environment and standard of patient care. As the registered nurse in charge of Staffing and the Nursing Support Roster, the NUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, financial management, change management and the resulting patient experience provided by staff. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of staffing, supplement roster gaps, management and leadership of the professions of nursing and midwifery to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
