What you'll be doing
Mid North Coast Integrated Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (IMHAOD) will implement a new Emergency Mental Health & Addiction Assessment Team (EMHAART) service that provides safe and easily accessible pathways aimed at improving consumer outcomes and experiences.  

The service will provide advice, triage, initial assessment, and referral service to facilitate access to the appropriate mental health or substance use disorders (SUD) services for the people of MNCLHD across their lifespan.  MNCLHD has a wide distribution of consumers that have challenges accessing services resulting in the need to refine and centralise ‘front-end’ 24/7 referral, access, and entry pathways as a priority to IMHAOD services.  

This position will provide clinical nursing leadership, ensuring advanced assessment, person centred management planning and investigation including physical assessments, diagnostic reasoning and referrals, together with therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacological interventions, for people substance use disorders within the NP scope of practice.

Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa).

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

A TALENT POOL MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE ROLES AND WILL REMAIN VALID FOR 18 MONTHS.

 
To engage in practice as guided by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards Framework. 


  1. Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current practicing certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or working towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the ability to complete all requirements within 2 years.
  2. Demonstrated comprehensive skills in clinical assessment including physical, mental health, social, ethnic and cultural dimensions.
  3. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with proven ability to use appropriate teaching/learning strategies to educate and support others within the specialty and the profession.
  4. Proven ability to critically evaluate and integrate relevant research findings into decision making about health care management and interventions.
  5. Evidence of implementing interventions and monitoring outcomes to evaluate and improve patient care
  6. Demonstrated advanced clinical skills, competence and leadership in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with substance use disorders.
  7. High level knowledge and understanding of current and trending issues impacting on the provision of Mental Health care in NSW.
  8. Current NSW driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes
