Join us as the Nurse Manager for Safe Staffing Levels, overseeing the implementation of a statewide enhancement within our local health district. Where you'll be working
The role will be based at the Vanderfield Building onsite of Royal North Shore Hospital. This position may require travel to other facilities within NSLHD.
What you'll be doing
The Government has committed to implementing a significant state-wide change to nursing and midwifery staffing methodology in the form of Safe Staffing Levels (SSL). SSL will be implemented in five clinical areas including Nursing Hours Per Patient Day (NHPPD) wards, Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Multipurpose Services and Hospitals, and Maternity Services (postnatal).
The Nurse Manager will work with the Ministry of Health SSL team to manage the implementation of SSL in the Local Health District. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and change management processes across the LHD that facilitate the effective implementation of SSL.
The role will be pivotal in supporting NSLHD in the implementation of SSL through the following initiatives:
- Workforce Profile updates and planning
- Large-scale recruitment across multiple specialty areas
- Supporting the local managers with roster configuration changes
- System changes including but not limited to StaffLink and HealthRoster
- Local policy, and procedure changes
- Staff and manager education and support
- Local implementation including reporting and monitoring processes
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with all health team members involved in the change process, and to represent the organisation at a local level.
- Demonstrated experience in managing key priorities and delivering successful strategies to deliver service outcomes within tightly defined resources.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking to set goals, formulate plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes.
