The Nurse Manager Aboriginal Chronic Care is pivotal to the coordination of client care, service management and leadership of the nursing profession to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
This position is responsible for leading, planning, coordinating and evaluating services; the effective management of all resources; and promotion of best practice to enhance client outcomes through staff development and research.
This position will co-ordinate and manage the Aboriginal Chronic Care Nursing and Allied Health positions, the Aboriginal Palliative Care Team, Aboriginal Health Workers / Practitioners and other associated services and staff. For disciplines outside the nursing and midwifery profession, professional governance will be provided by discipline directors (i.e. Director Allied Health and Director Aboriginal Health Strategy).

- License: Current NSW Driver’s License.
- Registration in line with Award requirements: Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority.

Selection Criteria:
- This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of chronic care and palliative care services in a community context.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs, initiatives, policies and procedures for service improvement.
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to produce reports and quality documents, and with proven negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholder representatives across all organisational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, always working within scope of role including ability to plan and prioritise own workload.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues and health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and experience in working with Aboriginal communities and the delivery of chronic care and palliative care services in a community context.
- Demonstrated effective planning, organisational, problem-solving skills and ability to lead in a changing environment, to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
