About the role

This position is to ensure that the educational needs of the staff within the team are identified and supported within multidisciplinary and interprofessional frameworks. The role plays an important role in providing consultation, educational leadership, content expertise and change management on a range of educational matters to staff in the Workforce Operational Strategic Unit and the NSW Health Deployment Program; to support the delivery of educationally sound professional development for staff across the organisation.


You are required to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of multi- disciplinary education programs and coaching interventions in accordance with the relevant guidelines such as professional standards, evidence-based research, clinical practice guidelines, and MOH directive.


Nurse Educator Grade 2, starting salary from $131,870.90 - $134,500.70 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 38- hour work week.


What you will do

  • Build productive strategic and operational relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure maximisation of education and coaching programs, through fostering collaborative partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively to develop, implement and evaluate professional development and educational frameworks and programs.
  • Work effectively and consultatively within the team-based environment to coordinate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of multi-disciplinary education and professional development programs, courses, and seminars for staff including coordination of educational components for transitional learner programs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of educational opportunities, leadership development programs, talent development tools including coaching, mentoring and career development to assist in ensuring that its leaders and staff are equipped to achieve the required level of proficiency, experience and knowledge in relation to their current and future roles in line with the strategic direction of the organisation and NSW Health.
  • Ensure education provided is sound, evidence-based, contemporary, customer/consumer-centred and flexible, utilising all learning styles, multi-modal teaching techniques (including virtual) and aligns to relevant professional standards.


About you


We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and holds post registration, clinical or education qualifications, or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer. Holds current NSW drivers licence.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills including role modelling, interpersonal skills, team building, relationship building, negotiation and conflict resolution with a commitment to a positive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrated effective educational knowledge and ability, with experience and commitment to design, develop, implement and evaluate professional development programs, including adept presentation and group facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and commitment to coaching and mentoring, and the provision of educational support to staff who support learners, including best practice consultation for managing underperformance.
