The School Link Co-ordinator is responsible for maintaining and developing a comprehensive approach to improving mental health and preventing the development of mental health problems in school aged students. It involves the co-ordination of training for health and education staff and the implementation of preventive programmes in schools. The Co-ordinator will be liaising with CYMHS, Mental Health and Community Health services, Department of Education, Senior psychologists Education, TAFEs, Catholic and independent offices.

Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until 27 February 2026 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

Remuneration: $55.40 - $65.37 per hour

What you'll be doing

The School Link Coordinator will maintain and further develop relationships between educational facilities, Child and Youth Mental Health Services and organisations providing interventions for children and young people who have or are at risk of developing a mental health problem/disorder and their families.

The position will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive approach to improving mental health and preventing the development of mental health problems in school aged students. The position will facilitate early recognition, appropriate management and improved access and coordination of care for children, adolescents and their families across service providers in health and education.
 
It will involve the coordination of training for health and education staff and the implementation of preventive programmes in schools in close collaboration with MH-CYP. The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of school link initiatives in NSLHD in consultation with CYMHS, Mental Health and Community Health Services, Department of Education, Senior Psychologists Education, TAFEs, Catholic and Independent offices.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the interface between health services and schools with knowledge of State and National policy directions in child and adolescent mental health and of the NSW Mental Health and School welfare systems.
  3. Knowledge and experience of health services for children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social problems.
  4. Working knowledge of the concepts of promotion, prevention, early intervention and evidence based practice in mental health.
