Join the John Hunter Hospital (JHH) Neurophysiology Team, a small but highly skilled group providing advanced neurophysiology testing for patients of all ages, across a diverse spectrum of physical, cognitive, and psychological health needs.
As part of the progressive Neurology Services of JHH and John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH), we contribute to the Hunter New England expert team of epileptologists and neurophysiologists. We are expanding our capabilities in ambulatory EEG, EEG monitoring, and vestibular testing, in addition to our nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials, and botulinum toxin services.
About the role
As a Neurophysiology Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting neurophysiology tests in both morning and afternoon clinics, including outpatient EEG, inpatient EEG, ambulatory EEG, vestibular testing, NCS, EMG, and evoked potentials.
- Providing compassionate and timely care to public hospital patients of all ages.
- Working across adult and paediatric neurology services, sharing duties within the team to ensure a collaborative workflow.
- Gaining progressive autonomy in performing complex neurophysiology testing as you develop your skills.

How you'll be supported
- Close supervision and training provided by three experienced neurophysiology technicians, with neurologist support for EEG, NCS, EMG, and other tests.
- Comprehensive orientation led by the Director of Neurology, ensuring you feel confident in your role.
- Structured training plans for trainee technicians, with clear expectations and progress reviews.
Ongoing education and professional development
- Hands-on skill development supported by experienced clinicians.
- Networking opportunities with other NSW public hospital neurophysiology centres.
- While formal neurophysiology academic qualifications are available through higher university study, this is not a requirement for the role, nor will study leave be provided.
