Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. What you'll be doing

To effectively plan, manage and maintain the Cancer Services information technology network and systems for Prince of Wales Hospital, in line with all applicable SESLHD Information Communications and Technology (ICT) standards and policies

The position holder will have primary responsibility for all aspects of the Cancer Services IT Infrastructure including procurement, management, deployment, upgrades and operations procedures across this domain. The position holder will also be responsible for investigating new technologies applicable to cancer services ICT, and ensuring ongoing training and support to users in relation to new and existing technologies.
  1. Tertiary qualifications in Computer Engineering and extensive post-qualification experience as a Network Administrator working in a health care setting in or relevant to oncology.
  2. Proven and certified Network Administrator skills and Server Administrator skills (Microsoft certifications or similar), including network routing and protocols knowledge, server admin, virtualization and Cloud Computing.
  3. Competence in database structure and query language.
  4. Demonstrated high order technical expertise, including experience in procuring, installing and supporting networked applications, supporting servers and a variety of client hardware, knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, VPN) and understanding of application deployments and support methodologies such as Citrix and Active Directory
  5. Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical and IT support documentation.
  6. High-level analytical and organisational skills, and the ability to identify and implement solutions for IT-related issues.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to manage and support change.
