Where you'll be working:
Working here means being part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary community team dedicated to providing high-quality care. Based in one of our Community Health Centres in Taree, Forster, or Gloucester, you'll be supported by a clinical coordinator, clinical nurse specialist, and team manager to help you thrive in your role. The Intake Team operates on a five-day roster, and flexible arrangements—including remote work from another HNE site—may be considered to support work-life balance and professional growth.

About the role:
The Intake team at Manning Mental Health NSW offers a collaborative, well-supported approach to assessing and connecting consumers with the right services, with staff able to work in a hybrid model that supports flexibility in delivering care. This enables the team to respond effectively to a range of needs, whether in-person or remotely, and ensure consumers receive timely and appropriate support. Unlike the Continuing Care role, which focuses on ongoing support, the Intake team plays a critical part in initiating care and ensuring smooth transitions into service or community-based support.

In this role, you will develop or enhance skills in assessing consumers' needs, establishing rapport, and gathering essential information for treatment planning. You will build upon active listening, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care to create a supportive, safe environment for consumers. Through intake, you will refine assessment and intervention techniques to ensure effective, personalised care.

Staff are provided with in-depth orientation for Mental Health. They will receive ongoing education through in-services and presentations. Staff are also encouraged to complete professional development courses as arranged through the service.

Requirements:
  • Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing or Social Work which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.

At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. You'll contribute to the team enriching health in millions of ways every day. On top of this we also offer:
