For this role, we are looking for a health care professional with:
- Tertiary qualifications in mental health and/or health management or working towards and/or combination of study and work experience.
- Project management experience.
- A current NSW Drivers Licence and a willingness to travel within NSW as required.
The Role
This position provides strategic, clinical and operational leadership and management within the Mental Health Services and Programs service provided by Custodial Mental Health. The Health Manager works collaboratively with all levels of staff to ensure line management, human resources, financial management, service planning, development, implementation and evaluation responsibilities are met to ensure specialist forensic mental health care standards are coordinated and implemented in an efficient way.
The position will lead and manage specialist mental health services and implement initiatives/projects that align with the Custodial Mental Health strategic and operational priorities through best practice, engagement, innovation and education.

The position holder will work within the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (Justice Health NSW) and NSW Ministry of Health policies, procedures and guidelines as well as the relevant Corrective Services NSW legislation, regulations, and policies.
Our Team, Location and Service
Custodial Mental Health (CMH) is a specialist mental health service within Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (the Network) that provides a range of mental health services to adults in NSW correctional centres.
Custodial Mental Health is a specialist mental health team, which has mental health nurses (MHNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, career medical officers (CMOs), and psychiatry registrars who are supported by administrative and managerial staff. CMH clinicians work alongside staff from other Network clinical streams and CSNSW staff, including Psychology, Offender Services and Programs, and Custodial Operations staff in the provision of mental health services. Mental health services begin at the point of reception and continue through to release from custody or transfer to another correctional centre.
Please note: Location is negotiable – Long Bay Correctional Complex (LBCC); Justice Health Olympic Park (JHOP) and Silverwater Correctional Centre (SCC)
