About the Role

The Manager, Junior Medical Workforce, Mental Health is responsible and accountable for the effective coordination and management of the Junior Medical Officer workforce within Mental Health Services. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring fair, equitable, and cost-effective rostering, as well as accurate payroll processing in accordance with relevant industrial awards, legislative requirements, and both district and state policies.
  
The role requires close collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including the Network Training Unit, medical department heads, and rostering managers. A key responsibility is to support strategic initiatives aimed at improving administrative efficiency and contributing to the long-term development and sustainability of the trainee psychiatrist program.
  
A key focus of the position is the wellbeing and pastoral care of trainee psychiatrists and delivered in alignment with the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) framework and the NSW Health JMO Support Plan. The Manager plays a vital role in fostering a positive, supportive, and sustainable work environment for trainee psychiatrists.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial equivalent work experience in medical workforce administration and management or human resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical workforce management and/or understanding of the NSW hospital medical workforce structure.
  • High level knowledge of prevocational network governance and management and other relevant agencies including Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA) and Australian Medical Council (AMC).
