Selection Criteria

  1. Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist or Social Work degree and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the Psychology/AASW Code of Ethics and a valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
  2. Sound understanding of strategies and therapeutic approaches to addressing problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) with young children and their parents/carers.
  3. Demonstrated skills and experience in providing culturally responsive, child centred, family focussed counselling, support and case management services to children and their families.
  4. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team, and competence in the use of electronic information management systems.
  5. Sound understanding of legislative and policy framework relevant to Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) sector (eg. Child Protection), and the principles of work health and safety, cultural safety, privacy, confidentiality, and equal opportunity.
  6. Sound understanding of the needs of Aboriginal communities, particularly in relation to intergenerational trauma, the Stolen Generations and Closing The Gap initiatives to reduce violence and abuse.
  7. Excellent negotiation, problem solving, decision making, case planning and advocacy skills including the ability to engage effectively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  8. Demonstrated experience initiating, leading, completing and sharing quality improvement activities, service development and evaluation processes, and the ability to provide clinical supervision, professional development and community education programs.
