What you'll be doing
The District Disaster Manager will support the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Health Service Functional Area Coordinator (HSFAC), provide strategic leadership, and ensure the ongoing capability of ISLHD to provide care to the population and protection to the patients, clients, and staff. The position will work closely with the NSW State Preparedness & Response Unit (SPRU) in the development and implementation of State-wide initiatives and policy directives. The position will support the ISLHD HASFAC in developing and maintaining prevention and preparation strategies and co-ordinating education, training, and exercise implementation. The position will work closely with Government Agencies and other supporting agencies in the delivery of operational support during activation of local, district and state emergency management plans and undertake a co- ordination role in recovery processes. 

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant post graduate qualifications or extensive professional experience in emergency management or working towards.
  3. Evidence of having completed training in emergency management.
  4. High-level planning and policy development skills and a sound understanding of risk management principles as applied to emergency management.
  5. Excellent communication skills including sound negotiation, interpersonal and liaison skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage the implementation of organisation-wide strategies relating to emergency management.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to undertake a senior leadership role in response to activation of local, district or state emergency management plans.
  8. Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
