Where you'll be working 

The Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) is committed to providing leadership in safety and quality to improve health care for patients in NSW.  The primary focus of the CEC is to promote and support improved clinical care, safety and quality across the NSW public health system, and to meet functions specified by the Minister for Health. The CEC Strategic Plan places priority on delivering high performing reliable systems and ensuring safety and quality in the provision of healthcare for ‘every patient, every time’ is consistent across NSW Health.   

What you'll be doing  

This position manages the development, implementation, evaluation and refinement of activities and initiatives to improve medication safety across NSW. This position supports the Medication Safety unit in delivery of either the NSW Formulary Committee Secretariat duties, Medication Safety and quality improvement initiatives or medication related critical response management. This position is also responsible for providing expert input into Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) initiatives and any issues referred to the CEC for comment when required. The position will take a role in the Systems Improvement Directorate in contributing to the Medication Safety Program. It will reporting to a Senior Improvement Lead within the team and is ultimately responsible to the Director, Systems Improvement.

Position Classification: Health Manager Level 3
Remuneration: $127,150.00 - $144,444.00 per annum, plus superannuation

Selection Criteria  

1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent with experience, knowledge and demonstrated achievements that enable a sophisticated understanding of medication safety.
2. Extensive knowledge of medicines use processes within NSW public hospitals and Quality Use of Medicines principles and experience, skills and knowledge in medication safety
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying quality improvement methodologies and tools.
4. Demonstrated analytical skills, with the capacity to undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of clinical data; demonstrated ability conducting literature reviews and applying research; preparing and presenting analysis and reports; and managing program risks and implications.
5. Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale healthcare quality improvement initiatives fostering a systematic collaborative approach to improving patient outcomes, including the management of multiple and concurrent initiatives with conflicting milestones and deadlines.
6. Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including liaising with and influencing stakeholders to adopt and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
7. High level verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience drafting complex written documents such as reports, briefs and advice for senior managers.
