About the role:

This role will see you use high level co-management, communication, advocacy and negotiation skills to coordinate and lead a trauma informed health response within the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) tri-agency. This will involve providing crisis and therapeutic responses to children, young people and their families. You will also use your understanding of how the broader range of services within the health system can meet the identified needs of the child.

In order to help you thrive in this role, you will have access to clinical supervision and training through the Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) and be supported to attend the NSW Health JCPRP Forum. You will also receive clinical and operational support by the Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) clinical coordinator for the Peel, Mehi, and Tablelands Sectors, as well as the Child and Family Allied Health Team Manager. You will have a VAN clinical caseload review and be an active member within Hunter New England Local Health District VAN clinical stream meetings, along with Tamworth VAN Aboriginal Action Plan meetings. You will attend meetings to enable relationship development and gain support from broader allied health services.

Where you’ll be working:

The JCPRP responds to children and young people at risk of significant harm as a result of suspected sexual assault, serious physical abuse and extreme neglect. You will work under the day-to-day coordination and leadership of our skilled team.

The location for this role is negotiable across Tamworth, Inverell and Moree.

About You:

We are looking for someone who holds tertiary qualifications in Social Work or any other health qualification deemed relevant by the panel. You will be motivated, organised, thorough and efficient with documentation, and have experience prioritising and carrying a dynamic caseload.

Providing culturally responsive services and therapeutic responses for Aboriginal people is core to your practice. You are a resilient health professional who understands the complex and traumatic impacts child abuse can have on victims, families, carers and the community.

As well as your ability to work autonomously and provide culturally appropriate and competent services and programs, you have exceptional work ethic, time management skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of social workers; or a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer which provides full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelors degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW

  • This position is full time; however, job share and/or part time arrangements will be considered.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • Hunter New England Health is dedicated to fostering a child-safe environment that respects and upholds the rights of children and young people, aligned with NSW Health’s commitment to implementing the Child Safe Standards.
