Exciting Leadership Opportunity with the Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service

We are seeking a confident and empathetic leader with expert analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to take on the pivotal role of Acute Care Team Manager. Based at the vibrant James Fletcher Hospital Campus in Newcastle CBD, you will join a highly respected community mental health service delivering acute, person-centred care across the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Port Stephens regions.

 

Who will you be joining?
In this leadership role, you will oversee the Greater Newcastle Acute Care Team (GNACT), the Suicide Prevention Outreach Team (SPOT), and Newcastle Safe Haven, vital services that provide assertive outreach and crisis response. You will provide strategic operational management and clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care. This is a business hours role (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm), supporting a multidisciplinary team that operates across a 7-day extended-hours model.

  • A strong clinical background in community-based mental health
  • Proven operational management experience
  • Exceptional decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to person-centred, family-inclusive care and a drive to lead service improvement initiatives

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the GNMHS Service Manager and Clinical Director, Community Team Managers, and senior clinicians, to drive excellence in care delivery across our acute care services.
