Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for a Postgraduate Fellow in Intensive Care in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). The position will be primarily located at Westmead within the Department of Intensive Care Service. The appointment is to the WSLHD and while there will be a primary site, it may be a requirement of your employment to provide services at other facilities.

Successful applicants will be senior medical practitioners qualified as a Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine.

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within three months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.

The position will be for the remainder of the 2021 Clinical Year and for the 2022 Clinical Year, until 5 February 2023.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Selection Criteria

  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
  2. Sound clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
  1. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
  2. Additional experience in the following areas is desirable:
  • Healthcare quality and safety


  • Research


Working With Children Check
