Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
  2. Demonstrated experience of living and/or working in rural and remote communities and awareness of the impact that drought has on individuals, family relationships and communities.
  3. Completion of the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to complete same or Certificate IV in a mental health related role.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer support interventions.
  5. Experience in working collaboratively within a team and of building and maintaining effective relationships.
  6. Demonstrated effective negotiation, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
