What you'll be doing
The primary focus of this position is to facilitate and support clinical staff to work with families and carers and to provide specialist family interventions for complex presentations. The position offers a consultative style service, working with clinicians, consumers and families to deliver family sensitive practice. This position has a significant role in providing education and training, with supervision and support to clinicians regarding family and carer work. The primary focus of this position is to facilitate and support clinical staff to work with families and carers and to provide specialist family interventions for complex presentations. The position offers a consultative style service, working with clinicians, consumers and families to deliver family sensitive practice. This position has a significant role in providing education and training, with supervision and support to clinicians regarding family and carer work.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant clinical field - Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology with extensive relevant clinical experience including specialist knowledge of, and skill in using, different models and techniques to work effectively with families and carers, in particular those experiencing crisis and complex issues associated with mental illness. For Social Work, experience as a Level 2 clinician and eligibility for membership of AASW. Occupational Therapist must have current AHPRA registration and experience as a Level 2 clinician. Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 must have AHPRA registration as a registered nurse and relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver education and training programs to clinicians and /or families and carers in a workshop style format.
  3. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills; ability to network, develop and manage partnerships and relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated experience in research and evaluation, including identifying opportunities for improvement in clinical practice and developing and leading ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
