What you'll be doing

This position will involve the incumbent in frequent delivery and collection of heavy equipment such as community hospital beds, patient lifters etc, in  the community. The position also requires the incumbent to work within a multidisciplinary team within our palliative care service dealing with  challenging behaviours associated with people dealing with end of life care, mental health issues, grief, anger and confusion.


The Allied Health Assistant may be expected to work across sites and participate in weekend work. Salary Level is dependent on qualifications: 
•       Level 1 – No Qualifications;
•       Level 2 – Completion of 12 or more months' service as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 or Certificate III or other qualification deemed equivalent;
•       Level 3 – Certificate IV qualification or other qualification deemed equivalent



All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent work experience and a willingness to work towards certification.
  2. Demonstrated high levels of oral and written communication skills with the ability to work confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently under minimal supervision.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in minor mechanical repairs, proficient use of tools and inspection requirements of equipment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to assess hazards or risk and problem solve appropriately in line with WH&S regulations.
  7. Current NSW drivers licence or equivalent.
