About the role:

We are looking for experienced Early Childhood professionals to join our dynamic team. We are looking for a committed educator who is willing to engage in innovative practices across a contemporary setting and curriculum.  Active participation in a range of service activities is key to developing ongoing partnerships with families and colleagues.

Within this role, the Early Childhood Educator will engage in service programs such as bush play, tinkering, movement, and Indigenous learning.  As an Early Childhood Educator, it is expected that commitment to the centre's philosophy is adhered to promoting an inclusive program for every child.

This role requires collaboration with team, families, and external services to provide appropriately tailored activities. This is used to monitor and progress children’s development as well as reporting to families and other interested parties e.g. school, therapists.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Engaging with children in interactions at activities and groups.
  • Providing support to assist children develop functional play skills and learning.
  • Active supervision of all children in all spaces.
  • Attending to routine tasks such as cleaning, cooking with children, developing portfolios of children’s learning.
  • Participating in meetings to develop curriculums, critically reflect, and implement.


Ongoing professional development is a priority component of the role. Training is diverse and inclusive of individual, team, and whole service delivery. Orientation is extensive and supported by team members across the service.

About the Possum Place Team:

Possum Place Child Care Centre is an Exceeding service providing care for families employed by Hunter New England LHD. Teamwork and communication are critical to our culture as we work towards the best outcomes for every child. Communication is an evolving process through discussion, training, and meeting.

Our team is diverse in interests and abilities. All team members are provided with opportunities to use their strengths to extend the role of educator. The Performance Development Review system identifies individual and team priorities for development. The team is committed to ongoing critical reflection as a source of curriculum planning and implementation. Engagement with the wider professional Early Childhood community is undertaken through networking, professional development, and collaboration.


About you:

We're looking for a motivated professional willing to contribute to the ongoing dynamics of the service. Involvement in curriculum design and implementation is inclusive of communication, learning new skill sets and sharing knowledge. Of high importance to the position is the health, safety, and wellbeing of children through supervision and teamwork. Engagement within the team is essential to ensuring the wellbeing of each team member. As a team member, the ability to advocate for self and others will provide an inclusive workplace and educational environment.


Requirements:

  • Completion of Diploma of Children's Services; Associate Diploma Social Studies (Child Care); Certificate Child Care Studies; Child Care Certificate; Certificate III - Child Studies; or other recognised relevant qualification in similar educational and child related disciplines eg. primary teaching, psychology, social welfare which are inclusive of child development and communication or working towards any of these qualifications.
  • Current NSW Department of Education and Communities approved child protection qualification.
