What you’ll be doing:
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.

The D&A Youth Clinician works with young people aged 14 to 25, their carers and family in a case management and therapeutic intervention capacity.
The position will be required to provide assessments, evidence-based interventions, case management, co-ordination of clinical and welfare interventions and written and oral reports to clients of the Drug & Alcohol Youth Service; and provide support to their families. Provide support to the clinical operations of the Drug & Alcohol Youth Service.
The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs.

Criteria:
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications which provide eligibility for membership with ‘the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). A Counsellor must hold as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification such as Social Work, Welfare or Psychology will be deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with young people and their families, particularly relating to problematic drug or alcohol use.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, case management and counselling within a drug and alcohol service.
- Knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to participate in quality improvement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
