Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification (university qualified) - health science degree or applied science degree in leisure, recreation or diversional therapy and eligibility for membership of Diversional and Recreational Therapy Australia.
  2. Experience and knowledge working in a Clincial setting and/or mental health unit.
  3. Demonstrated awareness of current older persons issues and an understanding of the needs of Consumers and/or families/carers.
  4. Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload.
  5. Ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team and independently.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of common tools for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Diversional Therapy services.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of tools used for leisure based outcome measures.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.


Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2022-030. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.

All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
