About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our healthcare leadership team as the Director of Patient Safety & Quality. In this pivotal role, you will lead initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies, quality assurance programs, and risk mitigation plans across the organization. By collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will drive excellence in care delivery while prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare management, clinical quality, and patient safety, with proven expertise in data analysis and performance improvement. Exceptional leadership and communication skills are essential, as you will mentor staff, guide change management processes, and ensure alignment with the organization's mission and goals. What you'll be doing
This role is responsible for managing the portfolios of Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Patient Complaints, Quality, Risk and Accreditation and Policy development and implementation. In addition, the position is expected to provide high level advice and support to the General Manager and Senior Executives of Fairfield Hospital and the Clinical Council on the extent to which compliance with governance, quality and safety standards are being achieved.

    1. Relevant tertiary clinical and/or health management qualifications or substantial work experience, qualification in Safety and Quality or currently enrolled in it.
    2.  Demonstrated understanding of the concepts and processes of the accreditation cycle, continuous quality improvement, patient experience and risk management principle.
    3.  Demonstrated management experience with the ability to lead and develop a diverse team (including: Change management; Problem solving; Analytical and organisational skills; Financial management; Performance management), to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders (patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs) and use critical thinking to set goals, formulate plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes.
    4.  Demonstrate knowledge of patient safety and the investigation of serious adverse events
    5. Broad understanding and experience in the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards and related accreditation processes, the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) system requirements and the Incident Information Management System (IMS+).
    6. Significant experience with executive level interpersonal, communication, presentation, written and verbal.
    7.  Demonstrated high level computer skills including information and database management.
    8. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead high performing team that delivers high quality, safe patient care through quality improvement initiatives across the facility.
