  •  An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic individual to join the Ministry of Health in a key strategic role to lead the development of modern employment instruments and systems that enable workforce reform to build the health workforce of the future.
  • We are seeking an experienced leader to proactively manage workforce risks. In this role you will take a lead role in wages bargaining and managing industrial disputation and legal action and represent NSW Health in tribunals, Commissions and other negotiations to resolve contentious and sensitive statewide disputes.

The Director, Industrial Relations and Policy provides high level strategic advice on the development and implementation of high risk, complex, and sensitive statewide workplace relations policy and practices.  impacting the NSW Public Health system.

The Director, Industrial Relations and Policy will lead wages bargaining and industrial negotiations with unions and industrial organisations and oversee statewide wage cases in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission.

 

  • The Director, Industrial Relations and Policy leads a specialist team to coordinate and advise on various bargaining and wages policy matters across NSW Health. This includes the coordination of wage related submissions to the Minister for Health and Minister for Industrial Relations and the Expenditure Review Committee of Cabinet to effectively manage bargaining and mitigate industrial risk across NSW Health.
  • The role provides timely and expert advice and counsel to the Ministry, Treasury, Premier’s Department and Public Sector Executives, and the Minister for Health, regarding complex wage related matters and bargaining strategies, risk and opportunities to support effective delivery of the Government’s Fair Pay and Bargaining Policy 2023 and related policies.

This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Public Service Senior Executive (PSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $239,483 to $263,586 per annum (SOORT 2024), with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

About you

 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

 

  •  Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, law or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  •  A thorough understanding of the industrial framework, policies and processes relating to employment with the NSW Government.
