The Opportunity

Looking for a leadership role where you can drive meaningful change in Aboriginal health and engagement? HealthShare NSW is seeking a Director, Aboriginal Strategy and Engagement to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

In this role, you’ll provide cultural expertise and strategic direction to senior leaders, ensuring services align with Aboriginal Health policies and reforms. You’ll oversee key initiatives, including the Aboriginal Health Plan and Health Impact Statements, while building strong partnerships with Aboriginal stakeholders, community leaders, and service providers.

You’ll also champion cultural competency across HealthShare NSW, working with the Aboriginal Workforce team to embed culturally safe practices. With a focus on governance, compliance, and risk management, you’ll help shape inclusive, person-centred services.

Eligibility Requirements

  • This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role and applicants must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal person and accepted in the community. Aboriginality is a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997

  • Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, or valid work visa). Permanent roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents, while temporary and casual roles welcome applicants with a visa.
