What you'll be doing

SESLHD’s Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services (SHBBV) provides leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services. This position will support the planning, coordination and implementation of clinical expertise within dietetics across SHBBV both in clinic and outreach in order to provide high quality primarily clinical nutrition care to clients within the Statewide and Clinical Support Services consistent with NSW Health, SESLHD policies, procedures and standards.

As a Dietitian, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to support optimal health outcomes for clients, using advanced clinical reasoning and independent professional judgment in complex cases. You will collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, provide expert consultation, and communicate with cultural sensitivity to clients, families, and other health professionals. You’ll also contribute to the wider service development through quality improvement initiatives, policy input, and participation in evaluation and reporting. Education is a key part of the role, including the design and delivery of training for patients, carers, and staff, as well as the supervision of students on clinical placement. A commitment to ongoing learning and the application of emerging evidence-based practices is essential.

Selection Criteria

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for full membership of Dietetics Association of Australia and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in the provision of clinical dietetic services.
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to others in providing service excellence.
  5. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  6. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
  7. Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing, and reporting on services.
  8. A willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
