An exciting opportunity to provide clinical expertise in the role of Diabetic Clinical Nurse Consultant. The position is temporary part time 2 days per week.

We service an expansive area across Northern Sydney for patients who have Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes. The Diabetes Education and Assessment Unit offers a broad range of services for patients within the NSLHD. These services include diabetes education for patients both in the group setting and on an individual basis. The unit also provides a comprehensive complication assessment services, aligned with a case management and health coaching service. Management of young adults with type 1 diabetes in liaison with a specialist endocrinologist and allied health completes a comprehensive package for services within the unit.
What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices.
The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
- Substantial experience in diabetes education/management for the Type 1, Type 2 and GDM patients.
- Demonstrated experience with research activities, developing and implementing education programmes, with extensive experience in delivering both group and individual diabetes education.
- Extensive experience in managing patients with Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin infusion (CSII).
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and people from Government and Non-government agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
