The Prince of Wales Hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services, including advanced treatments in general medicine, surgery, and critical care. Our Pharmacy Team plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy as part of their holistic care. SESLHD Pharmacy Services is an extended hours service and our team is operational seven days per-week.
The Role
The role provides leadership, operational oversight and expert guidance to the teams delivering comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to all patients in line with organisational priorities. This includes optimising patient outcomes by working with colleagues and other Health Care Professionals to enhance the Quality Use of Medicine. (QUM).
The Deputy Director of Pharmacy, Prince of Wales Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Women works closely with the Team Leader and Lead Pharmacists and Lead Pharmacy Technicians in the department to maintain leadership and management of the pharmacy team across the seven-day week. The role works collaboratively at both the site/service level and across the district to maintain leadership and efficient performance of the provision of pharmacy services.

Selection Criteria
- Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency(AHPRA) with post registration clinical and management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience.
- Demonstrated success in supporting the implementation of strategic processes to the management of Hospital Pharmacy resources in the context of clinical and operational service provision.
- Demonstrated adept interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution to deliver positive outcomes when working with others.
- Demonstrated skills in mentoring and coaching to support the performance and development of pharmacy staff.
- Demonstrated success in managing competing priorities and solve problems autonomously.
- Demonstrated success in the application of quality improvement and evidence-based practice within Pharmacy and Hospital services.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal development and development of the profession.
