An exciting opportunity exists for a Peer Support Worker Drug and Alcohol (Health Education Officer - Non-Graduate) to join the team at Northern Sydney LHD Drug and Alcohol Services.

Where you'll be working: Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Community Health Building Drug and Alcohol, as well as other sites across the Northern Sydney Local Health District

What you'll be doing: Providing individual and group support to consumers and carers by working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary
team to ensure patient centred recovery.
Developing supportive empathetic relationships with consumers based on Lived Experience of Drug and Alcohol
Issues by empowering consumers with skills and strategies to aid their personal recovery.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: 

  1. Recognised relevant minimum Certificate IV Qualification and work experience relevant to this position.
  2. Past or current personal lived experience of drug and/or alcohol challenges and/or mental health challenges; and able and willing to utilise aspects of your lived experience to support others individually and/or in groups, in a safe and effective way.
  3. Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
