About the role

  • Lead Consumer & Community Engagement – Champion co-design and partnership strategies that embed the voice of patients and communities, including vulnerable and marginalised groups, into health service planning and clinical improvement initiatives.

  • Shape Strategic Impact – Advise executive and clinical leadership on best-practice engagement methods aligned with NSW Government policy, while managing forums, frameworks, and governance structures that drive sustainable consumer participation.

  • Drive Accreditation & Quality – Play a critical role in accreditation processes, especially Standard 2: Partnering with Consumers, through leading targeted projects and developing innovative, evidence-based engagement approaches.

  • Build Capability & Culture – Develop staff knowledge and organisational capability in consumer partnerships through training, support, and leadership of culture-change initiatives that elevate patient experience.

  • Empower Patient Voice – Harness and interpret consumer feedback to inform service improvements, collaborate with internal and external partners, and strengthen the Network’s commitment to inclusive, person-centred care.

About you

  • Strategic Engagement Leader – Proven expertise in designing, leading, and evaluating consumer and community engagement strategies across healthcare, government, or community sectors, with a deep understanding of co-design principles.

  • Healthcare Partnership Expert – Well-versed in leading frameworks and policies that underpin consumer and community partnerships in health, with hands-on experience collaborating directly with patients, carers, and marginalised groups to improve services.

  • Exceptional Communicator & Facilitator – Strong ability to build trust, lead diverse forums, and present with influence, backed by negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.

  • Team Builder & Capability Enabler – Demonstrated success in supporting staff and consumer representatives to build skills, confidence, and effectiveness in engagement and advocacy.

  • Adaptable, Independent & Impact-Driven – Highly motivated and collaborative, with a focus on driving inclusive, patient-centred improvements through innovation, initiative, and continuous learning.

In this role you will be based at St Vincent’s hospital, Darlinghurst.
