What you'll be doing:
The Clinical Midwifery Specialist – Lactation Midwife is a member of multidisciplinary team who functions within the Division of Women's and Children health services.
The role provides a lactation service to mothers & families of babies in Maternity and children's ward in The Sutherland Hospital and guidance/support and education for midwifery, nursing, and medical health professionals. The CMS2 lactation provides individual patient lactation care and exercising extended autonomy of decision making within a therapeutic environment.
- Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and current NSW Driver's License (if required by service).
- Relevant Post graduate qualifications in Midwifery and Lactation and at least 3 years recent experience working in the acute maternity clinical area.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development and use of clinical management plans
- Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Demonstrated skills in the development & facilitation of patient and carer education [and staff as required]
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and evidence of leadership in safety and quality innovation.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.
