About The Opportunity
Are you passionate about driving high standards in clinical research? South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking an experienced and dynamic quality leader to oversee and elevate the quality management framework across its Clinical Trials Units.
In this senior role, you'll lead the development and implementation of quality management systems, conduct audits and accreditation processes, and ensure compliance with national and regulatory standards. Your expertise will support risk management, patient safety, and continuous improvement initiatives, helping clinicians deliver safe, effective, and reliable care.
You'll collaborate closely with executives, quality teams, and research stakeholders, including the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. As a strategic driver of change, you’ll oversee staff credentialling, guide clinical risk registers, and provide education and training in quality improvement and accreditation.

What You'll Be Doing
To provide strategic leadership for quality, training, and credentialing across all clinical trials units across the SWSLHD.
The position is responsible for developing and promoting a clinical trials quality improvement program, fostering a culture of quality, risk and patient safety, and ensuring compliance with ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, National Clinical Trials Governance Framework and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Key focus areas include facilitating and implementing processes to ensure research is conducted in alignment with the above regulatory requirements and the coordination of training and credentialling activities to enhance staff competency and adherence to regulatory standards.
The position provides district-wide leadership in clinical quality and safety for clinical trials, overseeing National Accreditation processes and advising clinical trials staff and executive leadership at SWSLHD.
In partnership with the Clinical Governance Unit at SWSLHD this role ensures the achievement of quality and safety outcomes. The manager will ensure all personnel conducting clinical trials meet regulatory and legislative requirements.

- Relevant tertiary clinical, medical science or quality improvement qualifications preferably with health management experience, and postgraduate qualifications in research, biostatistics, or clinical trials coordination or a combination of qualifications and substantial work experience.
- Outline your strong knowledge of risk management concepts and processes, accreditation cycles and demonstrated experience in clinical risk management and quality improvement processes. Provide examples of your experience within clinical trials setting ideal.
- Describe your experience in data and information management and analysis to support continuous quality improvement in clinical trials.
- How do you demonstrate your comprehensive understanding of and experience in training staff in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory compliance, ethical considerations, privacy laws and other relevant guidelines for clinical trials.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
