An exciting opportunity exists for a clinical psychologist to work in an older persons mental health service as part of a caring and compassionate team.

What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional people, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

To provide psychology services and associated consultation, teaching and research activities in the Older Persons' Mental Health Service, an integrated community and hospital service. The role includes:
 -Assessment of  older persons referred to the Older Persons' Mental Health Service with depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar and cognitive disorders as well as severe and persistent behavioural disturbance as a result of dementia or another mental disorder.
- Provision of  evidence-sed behavioural interventions in the care of older people with cognitive and other disorders in community and residential care.
- Provision of evidence-based personal recovery-oriented psychological therapy to older people with depression, anxiety and other mental disorders
- Administering cognitive screening and/or neuropsychological assessments of persons referred for assessment of cognitive disorders
- Providing support and educate carers of older people with mental  health problems
- An academic role in clinical psychology in Older Persons' Mental Health Service including teaching and clinically-related research.

Selection Criteria

  1. Registered as a psychologist with the NSW Registration Board/AHPRA and endorsement or working towards endorsement in clinical psychology
  2. Demonstrated experience in mental health including experience in cognitive-behavioural therapy and other relevant therapeutic techniques, such as group therapy, mindfulness techniques, family therapy, cognitive remediation and interventions for complex grief.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in working with consumers who have cognitive impairment, dementia and/or Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), including formulating behavioural management plans.
  4. Experience in cognitive screening and/or neuropsychological assessment and report-writing.
  5. Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement.
  6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
  7. Computer literacy including MS Office applications & relevant health databases and systems.
