About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
 

The Clinical Nurse Educator provides support and clinical development/training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures. 
The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build:

  • The capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care, incorporating reflective practice with the aim of continual improvement.
  • A patient and family focused culture that supports the NUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
  • The position contributes to the overall improvement of health service delivery.

This position will be working Monday to Friday and providing education and support on Infection Prevention and Control across all divisions of staff at RPAH.

Ideal Candidate

  • Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post registration experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications, or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  • Well-developed leadership, communication skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to liaise in a multidisciplinary environment.
