An exciting opportunity is being offered in Ambulatory Services at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick for a motivated and dynamic Clinical Nurse Educator with Paediatric experience to join the Ambulatory team. The successful applicant would be working Thursdays & Fridays (0.37 FTE) as a job-share arrangement and would contribute to meeting the unique educational requirements of Ambulatory Services and the Outpatients Department. Ambulatory Services includes Medical Day Unit (MDU), Hospital in the Home (HITH), Kids Guided Personalised Services (Kids GPS) and the Acute Review Clinic (ARC). The Medical Day Unit and Acute Review Clinic primarily treat children who require acute review and/or treatment as well as ongoing regular treatments. Hospital in the Home aims to provide home based healthcare services that deliver equal or better outcomes for patients who would otherwise be admitted as inpatients. Together we provide specialist care in an out of hospital setting to a variety of patients including those with chronic and complex conditions and children that are acutely unwell. The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing education in partnership with the Ambulatory education team, the Nurse Manager (NM) and the wider hospital education team.  

Experience in, or a demonstrated understanding of Ambulatory Services, as well as competency in extended skills such us nitrous oxide administration and cannulation is preferred. 


What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing education. The CNE will work in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) and Nurse Educator (NE) and wider hospital team to develop and implement clinical education relevant to specialities and basic nursing competencies.  
 
The CNE will work collaboratively to support clinical education to others outside the ward/ unit when required. 
  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer
  3. Demonstrated effective clinical teaching skills
  4. Demonstrated commitment to clinical and professional development
  5. Demonstrated advanced written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  6. Knowledge and understanding of NSQHS Standards relating to education
  7. Knowledge of adult learning principles
