Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. What you'll be doing
The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. This approach to all nursing practices ensures we collaborate together on all aspects of healthcare, inclusive of staff, placing the person at the centre of shared decision making underpinned by respect, mutual understanding and facilitated choice.
As a Clinical Nurse Educator in SESLHD you will deliver and evaluate clinical education programs to Intensive Care Unit within Prince of Wales Hospital.
You will provide the delivery of clinical nurse education, and perform the following:
- Deliver competent nursing education in ICU
- Contribute to the development of colleagues and identify learning needs
- Support less experienced staff and acts as preceptor for new staff (when delegated this function)
- Support the orientation of new staff to ICU
- Provide day to day clinical education support and clinical supervision at the point of care
- Provide 1:1 informal education
- Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures, professional development, clinical policy development and an in-service program for ICU
- Implement and evaluate education programs

- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate.
- Sound understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) and demonstrated ability to apply same in practice.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education.
- Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment of practice in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development in others and to maintain, improve and broaden knowledge, expertise and competence and capability across a team.
- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent; or willingness to obtain within 12 months of commencement in role.
